The tradition of the shore dinner dates back to the late 1800s when the oarsmen, now known as guides, would row passengers in their skiffs to and from fishing grounds. Stopping midday at an island with their catches, they would cook a noonday meal not much different from that prepared by today's guides. Your Captain offers the same traditional Shore Dinner. Midday he will take you to an island and prepare some of the morning's catch for your shore dinner. Captain Rick is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.
